Vietnamese officials pay tribute to DPRK leader
A Vietnamese delegation led by Politburo member Le Hong Anh paid tribute to Kim Jong-il, top leader of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) at the DPRK Embassy in Hanoi on Dec. 20.
In the funeral register book, Anh, who is also permanent member of the Party Central Committee Secretariat expressed his condolences over the death of Kim, General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea, Chairman of the National Defence Commission, Supreme Commander of the Korean People’s Army, and a close friend of the Vietnamese people.
He wrote that he believes the DPRK Party and people will turn pain into action and unite to successfully build a prosperous DPRK country.
The same day, Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh, Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations Hoang Binh Quan, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Huynh Dam and representatives from the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations, the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organisations and the Vietnam – DPRK Friendship Association paid tribute to Kim at the embassy.
