Việt Nam and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPR) established diplomatic ties on January 31, 1950.
DPRK strongly supported Việt Nam’s struggle for national salvation and reunification.
In October 2007, General Secretary Nông Đức Mạnh of the Communist Party of Việt Nam paid a visit to the DPRK where he held talks with General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea Kim Jong Il, opening a new stage for the relationship between the two countries.
At the celebration, Korean Ambassador to Việt Nam, Mr. Ma Chol Su, highlighted the friendship and comradeship between the two parties, states and peoples.
Over the past years, the bilateral relations have been broadened and fostered in all fields in line with high-ranking agreements, he acknowledged.
The Ambassador stated that his Party, Government and people will do their best to consolidate and strengthen the multifaceted cooperation and friendship with Việt Nam.
